Brinsley Schwarz - Brinsley Schwarz - Brinsley BBC Sessions, Volume 3 (1973-1975)

This is the third and final album of Brinsley Schwarz playing at the BBC. 

This band is best known for being Nick Lowe's first significant band. I suspect that Lowe is best known for two songs: "(What's So Funny 'Bout) Peace, Love and Understanding" and "Cruel to Be Kind." The first was made famous by Elvis Constello and the second was a solo hit for Lowe. But what most people don't know is that both those songs were first done by Brinsely Schwarz. Both happen to be on this album. In my opinion, the band got better as they went along, so if you haven't given them a try yet, this is a good place to get started.

All but one song here has been officially released, due to the two official BBC collections for the band. That one song is "Surrender to the Rhythm." It was recorded for a BBC TV show, "The Old Grey Whistle Test," and the sound quality is as good as the others.

By the way, there's a very little known final Brinsley Schwarz studio album called "It's All Over Now." It was recorded in 1975 but wasn't released until much later, due to the band breaking up before it could come out. I'm not posting it here since it is officially released, but if you like their other albums you should check that one out too.

There's one bonus track here. The reason it's only a bonus track is because it's a repeat of a song from earlier in the album. I've included it because this version is officially released, but on a rare compilation of "Old Grey Whistle Test" performances, so I figured, heck, why not include it for those who collect rarities like that.
